The Jason Cristo

The Jason Cristo is my take on a Monte Cristo: Aged cheddar, salami, turkey, ham, bacon, mustard, provolone, in homemade bread fried like french toast.
The Jason Cristo sandwich is a current favorite among the adventurous.

Historically I would make these to order for breakfast when camping on Sunday mornings using leftover lunch-meats and cheeses.

Indications: lunch meat, bread that needs to be eaten, a hankering for something warm that will stick to the ribs.

Recipe (makes 2 sandwiches):
Make a batter of: 1 egg, some milk, some flour, some good spices
Dip one side of each piece of bread into the batter (2 slices per sandwich).
Lay battered side down on some clean surface for assembly
Layer on slices of various cheeses and lunch meats and cooked bacon.
Sneak in some condiments if so inclined (I like mustard).
Once assembled, fry in a hot skillet with a little oil and maybe a dab of butter.
Enjoy hot ...
