Winter Party Follow-up

Time to wrap up something from a couple months ago. I had all this lead up on this blog about getting ready for the winter party celebrating our house's centennial and then I never found that photos we had taken until just the other day. They were on "the other camera".

Clockwise from top: Spanakopita, persimmon apple crisp, a lovely centerpiece gift, beet chips, crackers, meet and cheese plate, carrot chips, salty snacks.

Crispy Phyllo Spinach Tartlets made in a rectangular casserole and cut into squares.
I like the way this looked and it seemed easier to serve than as a round cut into wedges.

The Persimmon Apple Crisp didn't get tried much. Somehow it didn't have much eye appeal being a bunch of shades of brown probably didn't help. I also think it is better hot out of the oven (and maybe with a little ice cream).

Desserts which I show more of in later photos. I had fun with the little plate of chocolates. I had five or six different chocolate bars broken down into small pieces with labels cut from the wrappers to show what each kind was. I only plated up half the chocolate so I could replenish partway through the party.

Cinnamon Tree Bread with an orange glaze.

Desserts: Colorful Swirl Cookies, chocolate crinkles, and some store bought filled pastries.

Hot spiced cider in a crock pot with whole stick of cinnamon and some whole allspice. This worked out pretty well for having hot drinks available. Had to refill it once during the party. And heated some cider up on the stove for folks who were sensitive to cinnamon.
Not pictured but on the same side board was a hot artichoke spinach dip that was quite popular. I kept it warm in a second crock pot.

It was nice having so many make-ahead dishes so we could have a party and be free to entertain and have the kitchen not be a disaster area.

This was especially nice since after the party we had a sit down dinner for 12.
